I think it is safe to say we have officially been to the beach more in Wisconsin than in Texas this year. Lydia says she doesn't want to go to the beach now because it is too cold.
We had a couple beach days in Door County. On Sunday, we went to the little branch in Sturgeon Bay for church. We only stayed for sacrament but we would have easily doubled their primary had we stayed around. It was such a quiet sacrament meeting except for our family. After that, we met up at a beach with my cousin. She happened to be in Door County the same weekend. I don't think she's met Gemma or Lydia so it was fun to catch up with her and her little family. The water was surprisingly wavy and choppy so the kids had fun jumping waves.
Another day, we rented kayaks and hung out at a beach in Sturgeon Bay. When I contemplated kayak rentals and four young children, I thought, "just get a double kayak for an hour." I figured they'd all be exhausted after that. We ended renting two double kayaks and extending our reservation because the kids were having a blast. We kayaked around the bay area for a long time and could switch out kids easily. Lydia even surprised me and fell asleep in the kayak with Joseph. My sister joined us so that meant a parent could stay on shore with whatever kids were there. It was a little beach with a lunch area and a good playground so we hung out there for a long time. After that, we visited the Door County Maritime Museum and found some ice cream in town.
